THE FOUNDER
K A T I E H I C K M A N is an American designer currently based in Canada. With over fifteen years of experience working as a designer and stylist for leading brands and celebrities, Katie founded her eponymous creative studio in 2021. Her focus is on residential interior design, particularly on helping young families live efficient, joyful modern lives while embracing the charm of classic homes with character.
After completing renovations on two historic homes and taking maternity leave, Katie deepened her connection to the objects and furnishings we surround ourselves with. This journey culminated in the launch of Galerie Katie Hickman, a long-awaited project that bridges the gap between art and design. She believes that through intentional design and thoughtful selection of items—appreciating their history and the stories they tell—we can enhance our well-being and live our daily lives with greater mindfulness.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Katie’s appreciation for antiques and homes with character was shaped by both her deep Southern roots and her travels throughout Europe. She attended university in Oxford, Mississippi, and spent childhood summers at her family’s 18th-century farmhouse and ceramics studio in Georgia. These experiences sparked her curiosity and desire to learn from community, nature, local artisans, and the timeless beauty of established gardens and soulful, old homes.
Katie now resides in Calgary, where she enjoys cooking, entertaining, and hosting friends and family.
